pre-production report

Pre-production report In this report I will be advising local media organizations on film pre-production and how to plan and research to produce their own films. Pre-production is an incredibly essential first step towards making a film to a professional industry standard. It covers many aspects that need to be thoroughly planned, which are finance and budgeting, logistics, codes of practice/regulations and it is important that you have the correct process and method to effectively plan as well as use documentation that is professional. Making mistakes in any one of those aspects of planning can have massive negative ramifications on the entire project. However, the chances of something going wrong, that is out of your control are quite high and so it’s just as important that the logistical planning takes into consideration potential issues and contingencies to circumvent these. Even incredibly high profile and experienced movie studios and production companies make mistakes ...

monsters case study

This case study gives me an accurate representation of what a low budget film's production should look like. This style of pre production and cutting corners is a perfect representation of what I need to do in my own project and what success with a small budget looks like and help me create my film with the idea of being as efficient as possible. All this in depth research allowed me to make this and be confident that I can make something great with my small budget.

one mile away case study

I have done this case study to see an example of what a crowd funded project looks like in production and what processes still occur with a lower budget. This will help me in my own project as I can see how a smaller scale project like my own should be organized. Like the other case studies I am aware of how a huge budget isn't needed for a great film or documentary. As my film is trying to be a satire on documentary style films this reinforces the fact that a huge budget isn't needed to make my film as good as I possibly can.

I have done this case study as an example for me to learn from of what a big budget blockbuster movie's pre production looks like and what processes occur and what can go wrong to aid me in my own project. This insight into how to effectively manage budget will help me to not waste money which is incredibly important in a small scale production. If I can maximize my budget I can maximize what I can create.

film starting concepts

Image
Film Concepts These are my rough starting concepts for what genre film I will make and what they could include. I have done this in order to thouroughly evaluate and decide what film i would like to make and have all options open so that i can make a well thought decision that will allow the maximum potential of the project to be reached. I started by brainstorming in my head what Genres of film im interested in and what films are popular. Once i narrowed down my options into three ideas i decided to develop all three to full concepts. I decided that i wanted to do a mockumentary based in a school. This was because it would be easy to make on a small budget and is unconventional allowing me to explore my creativity when making the film. This is the first step in the project and therefore decides the entire direction of the project making this an incredibly important decision in the production of my film.
