Script

Media film script 

 

Start with three or four establishing shots of Mr. Potters house. A narrator then sets the scene. 

Narrator:  

“even though Mr. Potter is home its one of his duties as a secondary teacher to work hard to meticulously plan his students lessons and assess the quality of the work of his students.” 

 

Mr. Potter is rummaging through his fridge carelessly throwing items behind him whilst murmuring and grunting. 

Potter: 

“ah ha.  

(lifts a milk bottle above his head like a trophy)  

Here it is” 

Cut to Potter in kitchen preparing a cup of coffee as if he’s making a potion exaggerating the whole process 

Potter: 

“you see in my many years of teaching I've figured out that the secret to success is a good coffee.  

The aroma clears the mind of worry and doubt and allows you to work in a state of complete relaxation.” 

 

Now on a laptop with heaps of paper around him potter is working on his lesson plans with his coffee on his desk. 

Potter: 

“this is the unseen part of being a teacher but it is in many ways the most important part” 

The camera behind Potter sees he's received various emails some from students complaining about how disorganized his lessons are with some emails from the headteacher about having to let him go if these “events” keep occurring. 

Potter: 

“i’m actually well respected within my field. My previous class all got higher than a B which is a significant result for this school and so I have been moved this year to the ‘mixed ability’ set in order to improve their grades exponentially which is a difficult task but not one that is impossible by any stretch of the imagination. My only problem is that students in lower sets aren’t motivated to work which is why a huge part of my tactic with this class is to become more than just a teacher but to also seem like one of them in a way. One thing they do is pretend to not know the answers simply because it makes them appear to be cooler to the rest of the class so I have recently been trying to ask them questions and when the ask me for the answer I scream ‘I DONT KNOW!’(laughs hysterically to himself) Then they will see me as maybe a mentor like a uh obi wan kenobi (chuckles to himself sighs and briefly pauses) he’s in star wars? Ive never seen star wars so I don’t know.” 

 

Potter then grabs his mug of coffee and spills it all over the papers on the table ruining all of them.  

Potter: 

“argh fu-” 

A camera cut interrupts potter’s swear and cuts to a interview format one to one with Mr Potter 

Potter: 

“you see sometimes mistakes are made but in my line of work its not about how you fall but how you rise up. Yesterday I ...” 

I have made this script as it is one of the most important processes in the pre-production as it decides the story of the film and will even help to get investment and cast/crew as it can be used with a pitch. I used the synopsis in the film concepts, treatment and pitches and detailed it to make the story interesting and engaging to the audience. This will be incredibly impactful on the project as it decides what locations I will need to film at and what story i will need to make.
